Conference calling with military personnel December 22, 2010 .......................................................................
One of the popular business sectors in the country is military contracting. With the ongoing war in Afghanistan and other operations around the world, the U.S. military spends a large amount of money each year working with private companies to develop technology and purchase products. But before signing onto an important conference call with members of the military, there are a few things that people need to be aware of.
One of the first things to remember is to call the person by his or her proper rank. Nothing can be more embarrassing for a person than mistaking a lieutenant for a private, given how long and hard the person has worked to earn the title. It is also vital to, at some point in the call, thank the enlisted men or women for their service to our country.
While talking to members of the military can seem daunting, it is important to remain calm and complete the call in a professional way. According to the U.S. government's numbers, the country spent $895 on defense-related operations in 2010.
