Conference calling with no heat December 17, 2010 .......................................................................
While most places provide heat during the cold winter months, there can be times when it never gets turned on or simply stops working. And while it can be a major inconvenience to employees who have to deal with it for up to eight hours a day, it should never take away from an all-important business call.
The first thing to do is pour yourself a nice warm cup of tea or coffee. This will act as a hand warmer during the call and increase your body temperature. Another thing you can try is wearing a winter hat and gloves inside the office. This will keep you from shivering during the call and possibly chattering you teeth.
When on the call, consider fully disclosing the issue to those listening in. You can say something like, "If I'm a little off during the call it is due to the malfunctioning heating system. I am rather cold right now, in case anyone was wondering."
